New Delhi, September 6 (HS): Following Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra, Renault India on Saturday announced a significant price reduction of up to ₹96,395 across its product range. The revised prices will be applicable on all deliveries starting September 22, coinciding with the first day of Navratri, though dealerships across the country have already begun taking bookings at the new rates.
In an official statement, Renault India confirmed that the price cut fully passes on the benefits of the recently revised GST rates to customers. With the new GST framework, compact cars will attract 18% tax, while larger vehicles will be levied at 40%.
Renault India’s Managing Director, Venkatram Mamillapalle, stated, “Passing on the complete benefit of GST 2.0 to our customers reflects our unwavering commitment towards them. We believe this well-timed initiative will not only make our cars more affordable but also boost demand during the festive season.”
With the adjustments, Renault’s lineup has become more competitive than ever. The entry-level Renault Kwid now starts at just ₹4.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the Renault Kiger and Renault Triber begin at ₹5.76 lakh. Depending on the variant, the price reduction ranges between ₹40,095 and ₹96,395.
The wider automobile industry is moving in the same direction. Tata Motors had already announced late Friday that it would reduce prices by up to ₹1.40 lakh, while Mahindra & Mahindra followed today with a cut of up to ₹1.56 lakh. Industry insiders expect Maruti Suzuki India to roll out similar price reductions in the coming days, passing on GST benefits directly to consumers.
