Reservation issue: Ruhullah warns of joining students’ protest if govt fails to engage by Dec 27
Srinagar, Dec 25 (KINS): National Conference leader and Member of Parliament Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi on Thursday asserted that he has neither forgotten nor abandoned the students agitating over their unresolved issues, and urged the government to immediately engage with them through dialogue.
Ruhullah said the government must initiate talks with the protesting students and clearly apprise them of the measures and decisions taken to resolve the matter. He warned that if the government fails to reach out to the students by Saturday, December 27, 2025, he will once again join them in protest.
Taking to micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter), Ruhullah wrote:
“I have neither forgotten nor left the students alone. I urge the government once again to talk to the students and uplift them on the measures and decisions taken to resolve this issue”.
He further added in another post:
“If that does not happen till Saturday, I will not leave our youth and students helpless. I will walk with them and sit with them on this coming Sunday at the same place as we did the last year on 23rd December to make them heard.”
The MP said he would sit with the students on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at the same venue where he had joined their protest on December 23, 2024, reiterating his commitment to stand with them until their concerns are addressed.
Ruhullah’s statement comes amid continued student protests, with demands yet to see a concrete resolution from the authorities, prompting renewed calls for immediate government intervention and dialogue.(KINS)
