Srinagar, Jan 13 (KINS):Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, on Tuesday said that the work on the revised Master Plans for Baramulla, Sopore and Pattan towns has been completed.

Speaking on the issue, the Deputy Commissioner as per news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) said that the Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD) has appointed a vendor to carry out the exercise. He added that all necessary inputs from different departments — including details of villages to be covered, proposed development activities and relevant data — have already been collected and submitted to the H&UDD.

He further informed that the revised Master Plans for the three towns are likely to be re-notified soon by the Housing and Urban Development Department after they receive approval from the GTP Office.

On the issue of bunkers, the Deputy Commissioner said that more than 500 bunkers have been sanctioned by the Ministry of Home Affairs in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Home Department. He said construction work is expected to start in the next working season beginning in April 2026.

He also said that the LDM and his team have already identified locations for the bunkers, mainly in villages located within the 0–5 km belt along the Line of Control. In the first phase, villages that are more vulnerable to shelling will be given priority. Initially, 500 bunkers will be constructed, and the number will be increased gradually in later phases.(KINS)
