Road accident in Dhar; seven dead

Dhar, March 13 (H.S.):/A horrific road accident occurred late Wednesday night in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh. A gas tanker coming from the wrong side on the Badnawar-Ujjain four-lane road collided with a car and a pickup vehicle. In this incident, seven people died, including four occupants of the car and three passengers in the pickup. Additionally, three people are reported to be seriously injured. The impact was so severe that the pickup was crushed underneath the tanker. Several people were trapped inside the pickup, who were rescued with the help of a crane. The deceased were residents of Ratlam and Mandsaur districts. The injured were immediately taken to the hospital, where they are being treated.

In this regard, the police reported that the accident took place around 11 PM on the newly constructed Badnawar-Ujjain four-lane road passing through Dhar district. The Indane gas tanker (GJ 34 AY 8769) was headed towards Ujjain and was coming from the wrong side. At that moment, the tanker first hit the pickup traveling towards Badnawar. Following that, it collided with the car (MP 14 CD 2552) that was following behind. The accident was so severe that the pickup ended up lodged under the tanker. Five people were in the pickup, three of whom died. Two injured individuals were taken to the hospital. The police reported that the pickup vehicle was new and unregistered. After about one and a half hours of effort, the injured trapped in the pickup were finally rescued. The collision was so intense that some people sitting in the car were thrown far away, while others became trapped inside the vehicle. The people who fell outside died. Among those trapped inside, some also succumbed to their injuries.

At the time of the accident, three people were also trapped in the tanker and the pickup, and a crane was utilized to rescue them. Upon receiving information about the accident, SDOP Arvind Singh Tomar and TI Amit Singh Kushwaha arrived at the scene. All the bodies were brought to Badnawar Civil Hospital, where post-mortems will be conducted today, Thursday. The tanker driver is also reported to be seriously injured. The police have registered a case against the gas tanker driver, and further investigation is ongoing. After the accident, traffic on the four-lane was disrupted for a while. Later, the police cleared the damaged vehicles with the help of a crane to resume smooth traffic.
