
Agartala, 14 March (HS): Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, heir to the royal family of Tripura and founder of Tipra Motha Party, has lodged an FIR against a person named Bador Jamatia. It is alleged that Bador brutally beat a dog to death and posted the video of this inhuman act on social media.
Pradyot lodged this complaint in West Agartala Police Station. He told that on March 11, Bador Jamatia brutally beat a dog to death in Wak Shimlung Para, Teliyamura, Khawai district. The video of this incident was uploaded on social media by a person named Buchuk Jamatia, after which it became viral rapidly.
The FIR states that the act is a punishable offence under Section 325 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. Pradyot demanded immediate legal action from the police, saying he is ready to fully cooperate in the investigation.
As soon as the video of the incident went viral, there was a lot of anger among the people. Netizens and animal rights activists demanded strict action against the culprit. Seeing the gravity of the matter, Tripura Animal Resources Development Minister Sudhanshu Das condemned the barbaric act and directed the police to arrest the accused as soon as possible.
