Moscow, August 8(HS): Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump have agreed to a face-to-face meeting, likely in the UAE. This will mark their first in-person encounter since 2021, following Biden’s meeting with Putin in Geneva amid tensions over military activities near Ukraine.

According to The Reports, Kremlin officials announced on Thursday that Russia and the U.S. have reached an agreement for an upcoming meeting between President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. Kremlin foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov told Russian state media that preliminary agreement has been reached to hold a high-level bilateral meeting in the coming days at the suggestion of the U.S. side.

President Putin indicated in response to reporters’ questions that this summit with Trump could take place in the United Arab Emirates. However, he sidestepped a question about the possibilities of a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, calling it a distant prospect. It is noteworthy that the news of the agreement for a meeting between Putin and Trump comes after U.S. special envoy Steve Vitkoff met with Putin in Moscow.

The talks between Putin and Trump could prove crucial in efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war. Importantly, Trump has given Russia until August 8 for peace talks, with a threat of hefty tariffs on Russia if they do not agree.
