Satwik-Chirag advances to Final 16 at China Open

Satwik-Chirag's beats Japanese pair to reach final 16

Changzhou, July 23 (H.S.): India’s badminton duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty delivered an impressive performance at the China Open Super 1000, beating Japan’s Kenya Mitsuhashi and Hiroki Okamura decisively with scores of 21-13 and 21-9, advancing to the final 16.

The match lasted around 30 minutes, showcasing the Indian pair’s excellent teamwork, which left their opponents with no chance. Having previously held the world number 1 ranking, Satwik and Chirag are eager to overcome recent semifinal obstacles and aim to capture the title at this tournament after falling short in multiple earlier semifinals this season.

Meanwhile,PV Sindhu advanced to the round of 16 at the China Open Super 1000 by defeating sixth seed Tomoka Miyazaki 21-15, 8-21, 21-17 in 62 minutes on Wednesday. Ranked 15th globally, Sindhu dominated the first game with a 13-5 lead. Miyazaki, 18, made a strong comeback in the second game, but Sindhu regained control in the third, winning against the world No. 6.
