New Delhi, May 5 (H.S.): The Supreme Court has refused to hear a petition seeking directions to the Centre and states to ensure the safety of tourists in light of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The Supreme Court reprimanded the petitioner, Vishal Tiwari, stating, What is your purpose? Who is inciting you to file such a petition? You do not seem to understand the sensitivity of the matter at all. It seems you want to impose a fine.
The court remarked that the petitioner is filing public interest petitions one after another solely for publicity. In view of the court’s stance, the petitioner withdrew the application. Previously, on May 1, the Supreme Court had also scolded the petitioner regarding a petition related to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The Supreme Court had stated, You have demanded an investigation led by a retired judge. Since when have judges become experts in investigating such cases? Look at the seriousness of the matter; this is a difficult time. Everyone must unite to fight against terrorism.
