SC overturns Kerala HC judgment on CPI(M) MLA

New Delhi, May 6 (H.S.): The Supreme Court has set aside the Kerala High Court’s order that annulled the election of A. Raja as a member of the Legislative Assembly in 2021. A bench headed by Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah ordered the annulment of the Kerala High Court’s decision regarding Raja’s election.

The Supreme Court directed that A. Raja be granted all benefits entitled to a member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly for the entire duration of his term. A. Raja had won from the Devikulam assembly constituency in Kerala, defeating Congress leader D. Kumar. D. Kumar had challenged A. Raja’s election in the Kerala High Court, which ordered the annulment of Raja’s election. Raja had challenged the High Court’s order in the Supreme Court.
