New Delhi, April 25 (HS): A bench headed by Supreme Court Justice J.K. Maheshwari has dismissed the petition challenging the bail granted to Akali Dal leader Bikramjeet Singh Majithia by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in a drug case. The Punjab government had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the bail granted to Majithia by the High Court. Earlier, on March 4, the Supreme Court had directed Majithia to appear before the SIT for questioning on March 17.

During the hearing, the Punjab government stated that Bikram Majithia was not answering questions. To this, Majithia’s side argued that he was being harassed for political reasons. In fact, an FIR was filed against Bikram Singh Majithia during the tenure of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi under the NDPS Act in Mohali.
