SC upholds Delhi-NCR's fireworks ban

YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia approaches Supreme Court in obscene comment case

New Delhi, May 6 (HS): The ban on fireworks will continue in Delhi-NCR. The Supreme Court has directed Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Haryana to enforce the restrictions on fireworks in Delhi-NCR. The bench headed by Justice A.S. Oka warned that contempt proceedings will be initiated if the order is not implemented.

The court instructed all three state governments to issue directions to completely enforce environmental laws, prohibiting the sale, storage, and even online delivery of fireworks. The court directed these state governments to establish machinery for effectively implementing the ban on fireworks.

Earlier, on April 3, the Supreme Court upheld the complete ban on fireworks in Delhi-NCR. The Supreme Court stated that until it is proven that green fireworks cause negligible pollution, there is no justification for changing the previous order banning them.
