Imphal, 23 April (HS): Search operations by security forces are continuing in sensitive areas of Manipur. In this sequence, security forces have recovered a huge quantity of weapons and explosives from the hilly area of Mongjam under Hengang police station area of Imphal East district.

According to information given by official sources on Wednesday, during the search operation

a carbine, an SLR rifle, seven magazines, 73 live cartridges, 37 empty shells and a Baofeng set including charger were recovered.

Security agencies are linking this recovery to the recent tense situation and possible militant activities. Investigation into the matter is underway.
