Security Forces Recover Huge Cache of Arms, Ammunition in Manipur

Imphal, 27 April (HS): In a series of targeted search operations, security forces seized a significant cache of arms and ammunition from vulnerable areas of Manipur.

During a search conducted at Leijangphai village under Thanlon Police Station in Pherzawl district, forces recovered two country-made 9 mm pistols, two .303 rifles, one country-made .22 rifle, one lathode gun, 50 rounds of 7.62 mm AK ammunition, four bulletproof jackets, and two handheld radio sets.

In a separate operation at Moltincham village under Sugnu Police Station in Kakching district, security forces unearthed more weapons and explosive materials. The recovery included one Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), two single-barrel guns, one bolt-action rifle, and four pumpis. Additionally, they seized two No. 36 HE grenades, empty magazines of an SLR and an INSAS rifle, bore cartridges, live and empty rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, and several mortar-related items.

Among other items recovered were tear gas shells, stun shells, smoke shells, a BP vest, a helmet, a blue tarpaulin, and a besan bag.

The security forces continue their operations to maintain peace and curb illegal weapon stockpiling in the state.
