

Imphal, May 1 (HS): Security forces have intensified their operations in both the hill and valley districts of Manipur, targeting fringe and vulnerable areas through coordinated search and area domination activities.
During a major sweep in and around Heingangkhong, under the jurisdiction of Heingang Police Station in Imphal East, a significant stockpile of weapons and tactical gear was recovered. The haul included a .303 rifle, a sniper rifle, a 9 mm SMG carbine with magazine, and a .32 pistol. Authorities also seized two INSAS rifle magazines, a lathode shell, three No. 36 hand grenades without detonators, and multiple rounds of live ammunition: 10 rounds of .303, five of 7.62 mm, ten of 5.56×30 mm, seven of 5.56 mm, eight of 9 mm, and two of .32 caliber. Additionally, five blank .303 cartridges, four detonators, three anti-riot shells, two tube launchers, two helmets, four bulletproof plates, and one rubber bullet were also found.
In a separate operation carried out in the Saivom village area under Tengnoupal Police Station, Tengnoupal District, forces unearthed and neutralized another cache. The seizure comprised eight IEDs, eight locally-made hand grenades, 25 electric detonators, five No. 8 detonators, 40 rounds of 5.56 mm INSAS ammunition, and 60 rounds of 7.62 mm AK ammunition. A Motorola communication set with a charger was also recovered. Additionally, three bunkers believed to be used by insurgents were destroyed during the action.
Security officials stated that these operations are part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and prevent the movement of armed groups in the region.
