Senate approves Spending Bill to Avert Government Shutdown

United states Congress

Washington, March 15 (H.S.): The threat of a shutdown in America has been averted. Congress saved the government from facing this crisis just hours before the funding deadline on Friday. The Senate approved the stopgap (spending) bill that was passed in the House. This bill has reached President Donald Trump, but he has not yet signed it.

According to a report by CNN, this was made possible due to some Democrats. However, they faced immense pressure to oppose this bill supported by Trump. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and nine others played a crucial role in this. Schumer defended his decision to clear the way for the bill’s passage, arguing, I believe this is the best way to mitigate the harm being inflicted on the American people by the Trump administration.

President Trump told reporters after the vote on Friday that Schumer had announced his support for this measure. He appreciates Senator Schumer for doing the right thing. He is very impressed by it.

According to The New York Times, the Senate averted a government shutdown on Friday just before midnight. The stopgap bill, passed by a vote of approximately 54-46, funds the government until September 30. Additionally, the Senate approved a separate measure to allow Washington D.C. to maintain control over its funding.
