
Delhi, 15 October (H.S.): Domestic stock markets exhibited a firm trend in early trade on Wednesday, rebounding from the previous session’s losses. The benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, opened higher and extended gains as strong buying interest emerged right at the opening bell.
However, the indices pared some of their initial gains after the first 15 minutes due to profit-booking. As of 10 AM, the Sensex was trading higher by 0.24% and the Nifty was up by 0.30%.Among the large-cap stocks, Jio Financial, Bajaj Finserv, Asian Paints, SBI Life Insurance, and NTPC were the top gainers, rising between 1.11% and 1.36%.
On the other hand, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Axis Bank, HCL Technologies, and Titan Company were the leading losers, declining by 0.45% to 1.44%.The overall market breadth was positive. Out of 2,240 stocks actively trading on the BSE, 1,404 were advancing in the green, while 836 were declining in the red.
Within the Sensex 30 pack, 24 stocks were trading with gains, while 6 faced selling pressure. Similarly, on the Nifty 50, 43 stocks were in the green and 7 were in the red.The BSE Sensex opened at 82,197.25, up 167.27 points. It surged to an intraday high of 82,412.47 in the first 15 minutes before trimming gains. At 10 AM, the index was trading 196.11 points higher at 82,226.09.Following a similar trajectory, the NSE Nifty started the day at 25,181.95, up 36.45 points. It touched an intraday high of 25,267.95 before witnessing a slight dip from selling pressure. At 10 AM, the Nifty was trading 75.55 points higher at 25,221.05.On the previous trading day, Tuesday, the Sensex had closed 297.07 points (0.36%) lower at 82,029.98, while the Nifty ended the session down 81.85 points (0.32%) at 25,145.50.
