Chandigarh, May 20 (H.S.): The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee has firmly rejected the Indian Army’s claim that an air defense gun was placed at Harmandir Sahib during the India-Pakistan tensions. Giani Amarjit Singh, the Additional Main Granthi, expressed astonishment at the army’s assertion, stating that the management of Darbar Sahib fully complied with blackout orders issued by the Amritsar district administration. They confirmed that exterior and upper lights of Darbar Sahib were turned off as instructed, maintaining the site’s respect.
Singh countered the claim from the Indian Army’s Lieutenant General regarding permission for the gun’s installation, asserting that no such authorization was given and that the event never occurred. He emphasized the importance of the sanctity at Darbar Sahib and associated areas, which was upheld during the crisis. SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami reiterated that all protocols were adhered to, denying any communication regarding the air gun’s installation.
