
New Delhi, February 13 (HS): Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Hansraj College, Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Shri Ram College of Commerce and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College registered spectacular victories in the league matches played on Tuesday in the 11th Padmashree Shyam Lal Memorial Invitational Hockey (Men and Women) Tournament.
Big victory of Indira Gandhi Institute
In the first match, Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences defeated Kirori Mal College by a huge margin of 8-1. Farman and Ram Yadav scored two goals each for the team, while Shekhar, Sumit, Pulkit and Gurmukh scored one goal each. Pragya Anand scored the only goal from Kirori Mal College’s side. Pulkit got the Man of the Match award.
Strong performance of Hansraj College
In the second match, Hansraj College defeated Amity University 5-0. Sagar scored two goals for Hansraj, while Gurshish, Aman and Gaurav scored one goal each. Gurshish was chosen as the Man of the Match for this brilliant performance.
Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College wins in the women’s category
Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College defeated Janaki Devi Memorial College 1-0 in the women’s category. Pinky scored the only winning goal, while Anshu got the Player of the Match award.
Khalsa College wins in a tough competition
Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College defeated Shyam Lal College Alumni 2-1 in a thrilling match. Pawan and Ankit scored goals from Khalsa’s side, while Sarwan scored the only goal from the Alumni team. The Man of the Match award was given to Ankit of Khalsa College.
Shri Ram College of Commerce defeated IIT Delhi
In the last match of the day, Shri Ram College of Commerce defeated IIT Delhi 3-1. Ayush Pandey, Vibhanshu Tiwari and Hrithik scored one goal each for SRCC, while Bhavesh scored the only goal for IIT Delhi. Siddharth of SRCC got the Man of the Match award, while Bhavesh of IIT was given the consolation prize.
