Signs of weakness from the global market, selling pressure in Asia

New Delhi, June 2(HS): Weakness signals pervade the global market today, with the American market closing down during the last session. Dow Jones futures are trending down as well, currently at 42,097.02 points, down 173.05 points or 0.41 percent. Wall Street indices faced pressure, with the S&P 500 index closing at 5,911.69 points, down 0.01 percent, and Nasdaq dropping by 0.32 percent to 19,113.77 points. European markets showed mixed results; the FTSE increased by 0.64 percent to 8,772.38 points, and the DAX gained 0.27 percent to 23,997.48 points, while the CAC fell by 0.36 percent to 7,751.89 points.

In Asia, widespread declines were noted, with 7 out of 9 markets trading in the red. The GIFT Nifty dropped to 24,596.50 points, down 240.50 points or 0.97 percent. The Straits Times Index fell by 0.46 percent to 3,876.80 points, while significant losses were observed in the Hang Seng Index, down 2.34 percent to 22,743.71 points. Other indices like the Taiwan Weighted Index and Nikkei also recorded declines, reflecting overall market sentiment. No movements were noted in the SET Composite and Shanghai Composite due to public holidays in their respective regions.
