New Delhi, September 7 (HS): South African spinner Prenelan Subrayen’s bowling action has been deemed legal, allowing him to continue bowling in international cricket. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Sunday that Subrayen, who was reported for a suspected illegal action during the first ODI against Australia in Cairns on August 19, has now been cleared following an independent assessment.
The evaluation, conducted on August 26 at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane, confirmed that the elbow extension in all his deliveries was within the ICC’s permissible limit of 15 degrees, making his action legitimate.
Earlier on the tour, South Africa lost the three-match T20I series 1-2 but bounced back to defeat Australia 2-1 in the ODI leg. Subrayen contributed with one wicket in the opening ODI. The off-spinner has so far represented South Africa in two international matches, having taken five wickets in total.
