
New Delhi, 23 April (HS): The Northern Railway has started a special train service from Katra to New Delhi to assist passengers stranded in Jammu and Kashmir and to manage the additional crowd. Tickets will be available at the counters of Katra, Udhampur, and Jammu stations.
Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, said during a media interaction in New Delhi on Wednesday that special trains are being operated by Northern Railway to provide extra convenience for tourists and passengers returning from Jammu and Kashmir. As part of this series, the first train, number 04612, will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Station at 9:20 PM tonight. This train will arrive at Jammu Station at 11 PM and will reach New Delhi Railway Station the next morning at 9 AM.
He mentioned that this train consists of seven general coaches, eight sleeper coaches, and three air-conditioned coaches. It will stop at Udhampur Railway Station, Jammu Tawi, Pathankot Cantt, Jalandhar Cantt, Dhandari Kalan, Ambala Cantt, Kurukshetra Junction, and Panipat Junction along the way.
He added that the Northern Railway has racks available, and if necessary, additional special trains will be run.
