
HONG KONG, 22 October (H.S.): Defending champions Sri Lanka on Wednesday announced a seven-member squad for the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 tournament, which will be held from November 7-9 at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground.All-rounder Lahiru Madushanka will captain the side as they aim to retain the title won in 2024 after defeating Pakistan in the final. The team is a blend of experienced domestic performers and promising international talent.
The squad includes all-rounder Dhananjaya Lakshan, powerful opener Thanuka Dabare, and spinner Nimesh Vimukthi, who debuted for Sri Lanka at the 2023 Asian Games.Also named to the team are Lahiru Samarakoon, who made his T20I debut at the 2023 Asian Games, and Lanka Premier League star Sachitha Jayathilaka.
A notable inclusion is Tharindu Ratnayake, an ambidextrous bowler who impressed on his Test debut against Bangladesh in June 2025 by taking six wickets.Burji Shroff, Chairperson of Cricket Hong Kong, China, commented on their return, stating, “Sri Lanka always brings flair, style, and passion to the Hong Kong Sixes. Their return as defending champions adds another layer of excitement to the event.”
Sri Lanka is placed in Pool D and will play group stage matches against Bangladesh and Hong Kong, China. Their title defense will begin on Friday, November 7, with a match against the host team in the fast-paced, six-a-side tournament.
