Kathmandu, April 24 (HS): Political parties in Nepal have protested against the statement made by the Nepalese government and the Foreign Ministry regarding the terrorist incident in Pahalgam. The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has termed the Nepalese government’s statement as mere formality and has demanded a strong statement against Islamic terrorism along with necessary actions.

In a statement released by RPP President Rajendra Lingden, concerns were raised about recent attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh and now a similar incident in Kashmir. The RPP referred to the killing of a Nepali citizen and other tourists in Pahalgam, due to their Hindu identity, as horrific, inhumane, and brutal.

Regarding this, the party’s chief whip, Gyanendra Shahi, has labeled the statements issued by the Nepalese government and the Foreign Ministry about the Pahalgam terrorist attack as merely formal. He stated that despite Nepal being a Hindu-majority country, the government allocates budget for sending Muslims from here to Mecca and Medina. He pointed out that a Muslim commission has been formed in a Hindu-majority country, but Hindus are being killed in Bangladesh for being Hindus, and in Kashmir for being Hindus. Shahi asserted that the tolerance of Hindus should not be misinterpreted as weakness.
