Stock Market bounce back; Sensex rises over 250 pts, Nifty above 22,500

New Delhi, March 13 (HS): The domestic stock market appeared to be experiencing continuous fluctuations during the early trading session today. Trading began on a strong note, but as soon as the market opened, selling pressure caused a decline in both the Sensex and Nifty indices. Due to the selling pressure, Nifty temporarily fell into the red. However, it quickly regained support from buying, allowing the index to return to positive territory. After the first hour of trading, the Sensex was trading up by 0.35 percent and the Nifty by 0.31 percent.

After the initial hour of trading, among the heavyweight stocks in the stock market, shares of ONGC, Bharat Electronics, Tata Steel, IndusInd Bank, and State Bank of India were trading with gains ranging from 1.97 percent to 0.63 percent. On the other hand, shares of Shriram Finance, Bajaj Auto, Adani Ports, ITC, and Apollo Hospital were seen trading with declines ranging from 1.28 percent to 0.74 percent.

So far in today’s trading, 2,380 stocks were actively traded in the stock market. Among these, 1,345 stocks were trading in the green, earning profits, while 1,035 stocks were in the red, incurring losses. Similarly, out of the 30 stocks included in Sensex, 23 stocks remained in the green due to buying support. Conversely, 7 stocks were trading in the red under selling pressure. In the Nifty, out of the 50 stocks, 28 were seen trading in the green while 22 were in the red.

The BSE Sensex opened today with a strength of 362.78 points at a level of 74,392.54 points. As the market opened, a tussle began between buyers and sellers, leading to continuous fluctuations in the index’s movement. Supported by buying, the Sensex even crossed the 74,400-point mark. However, due to selling pressure, it also dipped to 74,046.43 points. Amid the ongoing buying and selling in the market, after the first hour of trading, by 10:15 AM, the Sensex was trading at a level of 74,290.34 points with a gain of 260.58 points.

Similarly, the NSE’s Nifty jumped 70 points to start trading at a level of 22,541.50 points. Due to selling pressure as soon as the market opened, this index fell to a low of 22,460.40 points. However, buyers then began purchasing, leading to a rise in the index’s movement. Amid the continuous buying and selling in the market, after the initial hour of trading, by 10:15 AM, the Nifty was trading at a level of 22,540.15 points with an increase of 69.65 points.

Earlier, on the previous trading day, Wednesday, the Sensex closed at a level of 74,029.76 points, down by 72.56 points or 0.10 percent. Meanwhile, the Nifty ended Wednesday’s trading at a level of 22,470.50 points, down by 27.40 points or 0.12 percent.
