
New Delhi, June 24 (HS): After the Iran-Israel ceasefire, the stock market rose on Tuesday, with the BSE Sensex closing at 82,055.11, a gain of 158.32 points (0.19%). The NSE Nifty closed at 25,044.35, up 72.45 points (0.29%). Among the 30 Sensex stocks, 18 gained, with Adani Ports rising 2.6%, and Ultratech Cement, Tata Steel, and Kotak Mahindra Bank up 1.5%. Power Grid and NTPC shares fell 1.5%. Of the 50 Nifty stocks, 36 rose, particularly government banks and metals, which increased 1.5%, while media shares dropped 1%.
The ceasefire reduced tensions in West Asia and improved expectations for crude oil prices, initially boosting the market. The Sensex peaked at 83,018.16, gaining 1,121.37 points, but slipped later due to ceasefire violation reports. The Nifty also showed volatility, reaching 25,317.70 at one point.
