Stock market declines in early trading session

New Delhi, June 23 (H.S.): The domestic stock market is experiencing selling pressure today, with weak trading at the outset. Despite initial attempts to recover due to buying support, widespread selling quickly ensued. By 10 AM, the Sensex had declined by 1.02 percent, while the Nifty was down by 1.04 percent. Among significant stocks, Bharat Electronics, Nestle, ONGC, and Trent Limited showed gains of 1.27 percent to 0.70 percent, whereas Shriram Finance, Infosys, Hero MotoCorp, Hindustan Unilever, and Mahindra & Mahindra experienced declines of 2.56 percent to 1.55 percent. In total, 2,424 stocks were actively traded, with 721 in the green and 1,703 in the red. Of the 30 stocks in the Sensex, only one was up, while 29 faced selling pressure. In Nifty, 4 stocks were up and 46 down. The BSE Sensex opened at 81,704.07 points, falling by 704.10 points, briefly rising to 81,984.44 points but quickly declining again.

By 10 AM, it was at 81,563.94 points, down by 844.23 points. The NSE Nifty began at 24,939.75 points, down by 172.65 points, reaching 24,988.10 points before continuing its downward trend to 24,852.20 points, down by 260.20 points. Last Friday, Sensex closed at 82,408.17 points, and Nifty at 25,112.40 points, both up significantly.
