Stock market faces declines in Sensex,Nifty in early trading

New Delhi, July 10 (HS): The domestic stock market faced pressure in early trading today after a positive start. Initially, the Sensex and Nifty indices saw an uptick due to buying support, but selling pressure soon emerged, dragging both indices into the red. By 10 AM, the Sensex had decreased by 0.21 percent, while the Nifty fell by 0.24 percent. Among major stocks, Tata Steel, Power Grid Corporation, Shriram Finance, Axis Bank, and Bajaj Finance recorded gains between 0.85 percent and 0.46 percent. Conversely, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Tata Motors, Cipla, Apollo Hospital, and Mahindra & Mahindra saw declines ranging from 1.05 percent to 0.75 percent.

At this point, 2,378 stocks were actively trading, with 1,599 in the green and 779 in the red. In the Sensex, 14 stocks remained positive, while 16 were negative. The Nifty featured 22 stocks in the green and 28 in the red. The BSE’s Sensex opened at 83,658.20 points, up by 122.12 points, but quickly fell to 83,360.84 points by 10 AM, down 175.24 points. The NSE’s Nifty started at 25,511.65 points, down by 35.55 points, initially rising to 25,524.05 points before dropping to 25,414.15 points, down by 61.95 points. On the previous trading day, the Sensex and Nifty had also closed lower.
