
New Delhi, May 22 (H.S.): The domestic stock market showed signs of pressure during early trading today, commencing with a decline. Initially, selling intensified after the market opened, causing both Sensex and Nifty indices to drop. However, around 10 AM, buyers tried to build momentum, leading to slight improvements in performance, though both indices remained in negative territory. By the end of the first trading hour, the Sensex was down 0.88% and the Nifty down 0.81%. Major companies such as IndusInd Bank and Jio Financial saw gains between 2.15% and 0.65%, while stocks like Power Grid and Nestlé faced losses ranging from 2.55% to 1.43%.
In total, 2,391 stocks were active, with 1,107 registering profits and 1,284 experiencing losses. Among the 30 Sensex stocks, only 3 were in the green, while 27 were under selling pressure. For the Nifty, 7 stocks showed gains, with 43 trading in red. The BSE Sensex opened at 81,323.05 points, down by 273.58 points, falling to 80,727.11 points shortly after due to selling pressure. At 10:15 AM, it was at 80,875.28 points, down by 721.35 points. Similarly, the Nifty began at 24,733.95 points, down by 79.50 points, dropping to 24,541.60 points before recovering slightly to 24,612.60 points, down by 200.85 points. On Wednesday, the Sensex had closed at 81,596.63 points and the Nifty at 24,813.45 points.
