
Chennai, 17 May (H.S.): Tamil Nadu’s women police force has been making headlines for its remarkable achievements and initiatives. The state’s women police personnel have been setting a national record for their leadership and empowerment. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin recently praised the women police force for their outstanding work.
The Tamil Nadu Police Women’s Wing celebrated its golden jubilee in March 2023, marking 50 years since its inception. Today, the state has a total of 35,329 women police personnel. The state government has launched several initiatives to empower women police officers, including the Nava Ratna schemes.
These schemes include improved working hours, infrastructure development, awards and recognition, career guidance, and self-defense training. The Aval project, which has trained at least 50,000 women in self-defense techniques, is another notable initiative. The state government’s efforts to enhance the working conditions and opportunities for women police personnel have been widely appreciated.
