Tata to invest in key Electronic Mfg unit, green energy in Assam: Chairman

Guwahati/New Delhi, February 25 (HS): Tata Group Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran on Tuesday announced a major investment in Assam. Chandrasekaran said that the company will invest in a large electronics manufacturing unit in Assam in the next few years. Along with this, it will collaborate with the state government in the green energy sector.

Chandrasekaran said at the inauguration of the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025 that the Tata Group has an old and important relationship with Assam. Taking forward the group’s commitment to the state, it will soon invest in another large electronics manufacturing unit. The project will entail an investment of about Rs 27,000 crore in Assam, creating 30,000 jobs. He described the Rs 27,000 crore semiconductor unit to be set up in Jagiroad as the most important investment ever made in the state.

The Tata Group chairman said that furthering the group’s commitment to the state, it will soon invest in another large electronic manufacturing unit. The group will partner with the state government in the green energy sector and will commit to invest in solar and other renewable energy production.
