New
Delhi, 01 Mar (HS):- Banjara community protects culture and values. I have a
huge number of Banjara population in my constituency and know their problems. I
will try to resolve their problems in the nation, said Lok Sabha Speaker Om
Birla. He was speaking during the Banjara Mahotsav organised to mark the 286th
birth anniversary of Sant Sewalal and Roop Sinh’s birth anniversary, at Dr
Babasaheb Ambedkar Hall, New Delhi.
Sant
Sewalal propagated a humanitarian approach to life and the protection of the environment.
The community is following his principles, Birla said. He represents Kota
constituency in Rajasthan, an area of the Banjara community. He appealed to the
community members to educate children and motivate them to undertake business
anywhere in India. The community should also strive to inculcate values in the
next generations. A museum based on culture, traditions, and values can be
developed for the purpose, he added.
SANJAY
RATHOD: Maharashtra’s Soil and Water Conservation Minister Sanjay Rathod
demanded the inclusion of the Gor language in Schedule VIII of the
Constitution. The language is spoken by more than 18 crore Banjara community
members in the country.
The language
is the same for all the Banjara members across the nation. About 250 years ago Sant
Sewalal had predicted that drinking water would have to be purchased in the
future, which we are experiencing today. His teachings were scientific and had
great vision.
Sant
Sewalal’s birth anniversary should be celebrated all over the state and his
teaching propagated among the masses, Rathod said.
