
Kathmandu, May 15 (H.S.): A corruption case has been filed in a special court against 15 individuals, including Mohan Bahadur Basnet, MP from the ruling party Nepali Congress and former minister, in connection with the 3.21 billion telecom scam. Basnet was serving as the Minister of Communications during the procurement of the telecom traffic monitoring and fraud control system (Teramox).
On Thursday, the Anti-Corruption Bureau filed the case in the special court. Besides former minister Basnet, those also facing charges include former Chairman of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority Digambar Jha and Purushottam Khanal, former member Dhanraj Gyawali, and Tika Prasad Upreti. Similarly, the directors Vijay Kumar Rai, Deputy Director Revati Ram Panthi, and Suresh Basnet, along with Hiranya Prasad Bastakoti and Achyutanand Mishra are also included. According to Bureau spokesperson Rajendra Poudel, cases have also been filed against directors Surendra Lal Hada, Deepesh Acharya, and Deputy Director Sandeep Adhikari.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau has also filed a case against the consulting company Vanairise Solution, its CEO Jamal Anouti, its Nepal agent office, Chairman Dilip Kumar Gurung, and Director Tej Prasad Kharel.
