GAZA CITY, 26 October (H.S.): The Israeli military conducted an airstrike in central Gaza on Saturday, targeting a member of the Islamic Jihad militant group who was allegedly planning an imminent attack. The strike occurred despite a fragile two-week truce brokered by US President Donald Trump.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the precise strike in the Nuseirat area was necessary to neutralize a terrorist threat against its troops. However, the Al-Awda hospital in the Hamas-run territory reported receiving four injured individuals after a strike targeted a civilian car in the same area.
The incident highlights the precarious nature of the recent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, an ally of Islamic Jihad. The Israeli military has reiterated that it will continue operations in Gaza to remove any immediate threat while maintaining its right to self-defense.
