Terrorist attack in J&K: President Murmu's two-day Assam visit postponed

Guwahati, 23 April (HS): In view of the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, President Draupadi Murmu has postponed her proposed two-day Assam visit. The President was to visit Assam from April 24, but now this visit has been postponed for the time being. This information was given by the Governor’s Secretariat on Wednesday.

The President was to reach Guwahati on the evening of April 24 to participate in two government programs. The Governor’s Secretariat said, We have received a message from Rashtrapati Bhavan stating that the President’s visit has been postponed due to the attack in Jammu and Kashmir. The new date of the President’s visit will be decided later. It is noteworthy that on the coming Friday, in a program organized by the state government, President Draupadi Murmu was to present the Srimanta Shankardev Award to famous dancer Sonal Mansingh. Apart from this, the President was invited as the chief guest in the 32nd convocation of Guwahati University on the same day (Friday) evening.

Meanwhile, an administrative officer of Guwahati University said that he has received information about the postponement of the President’s visit. However, despite the President not coming, the convocation will be held on the announced date and time.
