There is no plan for any study like Manusmriti and Baburnama in DU: Vice Chancellor

NEW DELHI, 4 March (H.S.) : The Vice Chancellor has once again clarified the situation regarding the teaching of Manusmriti and Baburnama in DU. Delhi University (DU) Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh has said that we have no intention to present any course or study material like Manusmriti or Baburnama in the university. He said that neither such a subject is worth considering before the DU administration nor will we reject such subjects in the future as well. There is no need to teach Baburnama, nor is it relevant in today’s time.

He said that under the New Education Policy (NEP 2020), we want to introduce new courses in line with Indian traditions and are also introducing them, which will benefit the country and society. We are moving towards a developed India. We are moving towards strengthening the country’s economy and improving the scope of society in this direction. Delhi University is designing its study material keeping in mind how we can achieve the resolution of a developed nation by 2047 and what contribution DU can make to it. Many times rumors have been raised in Delhi University about making Manusmriti a part of the syllabus under the new education policy.
