
West Singhbhum/Ranchi, March 5 (HS): Three jawans were injured in an IED blast planted by Naxalites during a search operation by security forces in West Singhbhum (Chaibasa) district.
Chaibasa SP Ashutosh Shekhar said that on Wednesday, Naxalites had planted IEDs in advance to target security forces in the forest and hilly area near Vangram Baliba in Chotanagra police station area. Apart from this, Naxalites had also dug a pit on the way and planted iron arrows (spike holes), due to which AC GJ Sai, HC/RO VT Rao and CT/GD Dharmendra Kumar of CRPF 197 battalion were injured. The condition of the injured is said to be stable. After first aid, they were brought to Ranchi by helicopter and admitted to Raj Hospital. Jharkhand DGP Anurag Gupta and IG Akhilesh Jha met the injured jawans at Raj Hospital and enquired about their health. They have instructed the doctors to ensure better treatment. The SP said that top leaders of the banned CPI (Maoist) Misir Besra, Anmol, Nochu, Anal, Asim Madal, Ajay Mahato, Sagen Agariya, Ashwin, Pintu Lohra, Chandan Lohra, Amit Hasda alias Uptan, Jaikant and Rapa Munda are active in carrying out subversive activities in Saranda-Kolhan area with their squad. To stop these Naxalite activities, a joint operation of police, Cobra 203 battalion, 209 battalion, Jharkhand Jaguar and CRPF’s 26, 60, 134, 174, 193 and 197 battalions is going on.
