Tiger woods undergoes Achilles tendon surgery, uncertainty remains over his return

Tiger Woods

New Delhi, March 12 (HS): Golf legend Tiger Woods has received another setback. On Tuesday, he underwent surgery on his left Achilles tendon, leaving uncertainty about his return at this time. Woods reported that the injury occurred while training at home in Jupiter, Florida.

Woods stated on social media, As I increased my training and practice, I felt sharp pain in my left Achilles. Tests revealed that it was completely torn. This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken at the ‘Hospital for Special Surgery’ in West Palm Beach, Florida conducted my surgery, which was successful.

Dr. Stucken also confirmed that the operation was completely successful, but no clear timeline was provided for Woods’ return.

Woods is a 15-time major champion and has been struggling with ongoing injuries and surgeries. Last year, he underwent his sixth back surgery and is still trying to recover from the effects of a car accident in 2021. This latest surgery may keep him out of next month’s prestigious ‘Masters’ tournament, which could further impact his career.

Woods did not participate in ‘The Players Championship’ at TPC Sawgrass this week, citing the recent death of his mother and lack of practice as reasons. His last official tournament was the ‘2024 Open Championship,’ where he did not make the cut. Additionally, he has played in TGL events this season.

After the surgery, Woods said, I have now returned home and will focus entirely on recovery and rehabilitation. Thank you for all your support.

Fans are hopeful that he will soon return to full fitness and back on the golf course, but his road to comeback appears to be more challenging than ever.
