- Every Single Terrorist & Its Supporter Must Be Neutralised
- Security Gains Since 2019 Must Be Defended at All Costs
Srinagar- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said “security gains” made in Jammu and Kashmir since 2019 must be defended and every single terrorist and its supporter operating in valley, forest, hills or village must be neutralised.
Addressing the UT-level Security Conference in Jammu, held on the lines of the national DGPs and IGPs Conference, the Lieutenant Governor said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, detailed discussions were held on the theme “Viksit Bharat: Security Dimensions”, aimed at strengthening security mechanisms in a rapidly evolving threat environment.
The security conference is the first such event held in Jammu and Kashmir
He underlined the need for coordinated action against terrorists, their enablers and ideologues to dismantle the terror ecosystem and eliminate safe havens.
“The real security gains achieved since 2019 must be defended and every single terrorist and their supporter operating in the valley, forests, hills or villages must be neutralised,” Sinha said.
The Lieutenant Governor said that over the past six years, the security grid has been significantly strengthened, adding that coordinated efforts by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, intelligence agencies and Central Armed Police Forces have led to a marked decline in terrorist violence, the number of active terrorists and recruitment.
“Armed terrorists and their supporters, OGWs and those intimidating common citizens should be treated equally and made to pay a heavy price for their actions,” he said.
Sinha also flagged emerging security challenges, saying the threat landscape has changed in recent years and requires a shift from reactive to proactive strategies.
“We need to use advanced tools such as artificial intelligence to counter terrorism, terror financing, radicalisation and narco-terrorism,” he said.
The one-day conference was attended by senior officials from the police, intelligence agencies, civil administration and Central Armed Police Forces.
