London, September 19 (HS): U.S. President Donald Trump, currently on an official visit to the United Kingdom, will hold a telephonic conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday regarding a potential deal over the social media platform TikTok. The call is scheduled for 9 a.m. EDT and marks the first direct conversation between the two leaders since June, amid ongoing frictions over tariffs and trade.

During a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, President Trump said both sides were “very close” to a settlement on TikTok. “I like TikTok too,” Trump remarked, acknowledging the app’s role in boosting his previous election campaign. He credited the platform with helping secure strong support among young voters, saying it was a key factor in his electoral victory. “I’ll be speaking with President Xi so that something final can be worked out on TikTok,” he added.

Earlier, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Besant confirmed that Trump and Xi would discuss finalizing the agreement during their call on Friday. He stated that Washington already has a roadmap prepared for the deal and expressed optimism about its conclusion.
