Washington, July 31 (H.S.): The Donald Trump administration in the US is set to initiate a new digital health initiative aimed at encouraging millions of American citizens to upload their personal health information and medical records to mobile apps and digital platforms. This system is being developed with the cooperation of private tech companies, including giants like Google and Amazon, as well as leading hospital groups like the Cleveland Clinic.
A meeting was held at the White House on Wednesday to discuss this new plan, attended by representatives from over 60 companies and health institutions. The administration is calling this initiative the Digital Health Ecosystem, with the goal of significantly expanding digital health services in US.The new system will focus particularly on diabetes control, weight management, and conversational artificial intelligence (AI) to assist patients in consultations and discussions.
Additionally, the patient examination process, medication tracking, and hospital registration will be made easier through QR codes and app-based systems.Although this initiative is being considered a major achievement towards modern health services, concerns regarding data privacy have also emerged.
Critics argue that the Trump administration has previously been embroiled in controversies over sharing American citizens’ personal information, which could pose a threat to patient privacy.Experts believe that without transparency and security in the collection and use of health data, patients’ rights could be violated. Meanwhile, the administration states that this initiative will digitally empower the medical field and provide citizens with quicker access to health services.
