Washington , 8 June (H.S.): President Donald Trump remains firm in his estrangement from Elon Musk, asserting he has no intention of mending ties and warning of potential “serious consequences” for Musk if he aids Democrats in upcoming elections. In a phone interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker, Trump confirmed that their relationship seems over, emphasizing his focus on other matters and reminiscing about the support he previously offered Musk. He expressed dissatisfaction with Musk’s recent comments and activities, particularly concerns that Musk might back Democratic candidates for the 2026 midterms.
“If he does, he’ll have to pay the consequences for that,” Trump told NBC, though he declined to share what those consequences would be. Mr Musk’s businesses have many lucrative federal contracts.
During the interview, remarks were made regarding Musk’s insinuations that Trump’s administration withheld Epstein-related records, which Trump ally J.D. Vance dismissed, asserting there was no wrongdoing on Trump’s part. Vance criticized Musk’s suggestions for Trump’s impeachment and defended a contentious bill that has sparked disagreement between Trump and Musk, claiming it aims to extend the 2017 tax cuts from Trump’s presidency rather than merely cutting spending.
Vance characterized the bill as beneficial despite its flaws, acknowledging it could lead to significant reductions in healthcare coverage and increased deficits, as projected by the Congressional Budget Office. The discussion took place in Nashville at a restaurant linked to Kid Rock, a supporter of Trump, indicating the ongoing political connections and tensions within Republican circles.
