
New Delhi, April 21 (HS) : The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), which strengthens the spirit of self-reliance in the country, has created a new record under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. For the first time in the history of independent India, the business of Khadi and Village Industries has crossed 1 lakh 70 thousand crore rupees. Over the past 11 years, there has been a fourfold increase in production with a surge of 347 percent and a fivefold increase in sales with a growth of 447 percent.
Manoj Kumar, the Chairman of KVIC, released the provisional figures for Khadi and Village Industries for the financial year 2024-25 at the KVIC office located in Rajghat, New Delhi. The figures for the financial year 2024-25 indicate a historical increase of 49.23 percent in total employment generation over 11 years, with KVIC providing employment to 1.94 crore people. He mentioned that the business of Khadi-Village Industries Bhavan in New Delhi has reached a record figure of 110.01 crore rupees for the first time. He also stated that KVIC has set a new record in production, sales, and new employment generation for the financial year 2024-25.
He said that KVIC’s impressive performance has made a significant contribution to realizing the resolution of ‘Developed India’ by 2047 and to making India the third-largest economy in the world. Manoj Kumar remarked, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with the guidance of the MSME Ministry, KVIC’s schemes and achievements have become a robust foundation for ‘Developed India.’”
