Imphal, 25 March (HS): Manipur Police have dealt a significant blow to the proscribed outfit KCP(PWG) by arresting two of its recruiters in Guwahati.

Manipur police PRO said on Tuesday that in a well-coordinated operation, the police captured Meishnam Bungomacha Singh and Tekcham Ibomcha Singh from the Gorchuk area of Assam’s capital. Their arrest is linked to an FIR lodged at Andro Police Station, Imphal East District.

According to officials, the duo was instrumental in recruiting youth for KCP(PWG), a banned insurgent group. Their arrest follows a crackdown on March 15, when four extortionists from the same outfit were arrested in Andro with arms and ammunition. Investigations indicate that two of those arrested earlier were recruited by the newly apprehended suspects.

Adding to the intensified action against the group, Manipur Police also arrested two KCP(PWG) members—Sarangthem Dinesh (26) and Sanasam Malemnganbi Chanu (23)—during an anti-extortion operation at Wangoi Laxmi Bazar, Imphal West. A two-wheeler and a mobile handset were seized in the raid.
