UN Chief Guterres assures support for Bangladesh reforms

In Dhaka, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres observes a photo exhibition organized on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of UN-Bangladesh relations.

Dhaka, March 15 (H.S.): United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres confirmed the UN’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh on the Rohingya issue during a ceremony held this morning at the new UN building in Gulshan. He praised the contribution of Bangladeshi peacekeepers to the UN mission. Guterres also discussed the reforms of Bangladesh’s interim government.

According to a report by the Dhaka Tribune, Guterres observed a photo exhibition organized on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of UN-Bangladesh relations and hoisted the official UN flag. After this visit, a meeting took place with the UN team in Bangladesh.

Following that, Guterres and the advisor to the Ministry of Industry, Housing, and Public Works, Adilur Rahman Khan, jointly inaugurated the UN building in Bangladesh in Gulshan. The event was also attended by the advisor on Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Saida Rizwana Hasan, and the UN’s local coordinator in Bangladesh, Gwyn Lewis.
