
NEW DELHI, 12 March (H.S.) : Union Minister for Consumer Affairs responded in the Lok
Sabha regarding the National Food Security Act, which provides free rations to
81 crore impoverished individuals. During the Question Hour, Union Cabinet
Minister Prahlad Joshi discussed the Act, originally enacted in February 2013
at the initiative of Sonia Gandhi. He highlighted that significant advancements
have occurred since the Modi government took office in 2014. Joshi claimed
that, as a result of the effective execution of the National Food Security Act
by the Modi administration, 81 crore people are currently benefiting from the
free ration program.
