New Delhi, May 17 (HS): Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Harsh Malhotra, inspected the 210-kilometer Delhi-Saharanpur-Dehradun Expressway, urging NHAI officials to speed up its completion. Key features include a construction cost of approximately ₹12,000 crores and a designated speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour, which will cut travel time from Delhi to Dehradun from 6.5 hours to 2.5 hours.
The route begins at Akshardham Temple and passes through Baghpat, Baraut, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, and Saharanpur, culminating in Dehradun. Notably, a 12-kilometer elevated corridor has been built in Rajaji National Park for environmental protection. Malhotra directed officials to finish the remaining work within 2-3 months. This expressway aims to alleviate congestion in Delhi’s NCR and improve access to hill stations and pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
