
LICHFIELD, England , 25 October (H.S.): On Friday, it was revealed that a remarkable collection of previously unseen photographs of The Beatles, captured on the sets of their iconic films A Hard Day’s Night and Help!, will be going up for auction. The images were taken by Edward Tucker, a long-serving film industry crew member.The collection, which is being brought to auction by Mr. Tucker’s family, features eight rare photographs.
Six black-and-white images from the 1964 set of A Hard Day’s Night show candid moments, including Ringo Starr filming a scene in West Ealing with director Richard Lester, as well as separate shots of Sir Paul McCartney and George Harrison. Two additional color photos were taken during the filming of Help! at Cliveden House, which was used as a cinematic double for Buckingham Palace.
Edward Tucker, who passed away eight years ago at age 83, worked for decades as a grip, a technician who builds and maintains camera support equipment. His extensive archive came to light during an valuation day for an antiques television program. The collection also includes film scripts for movies like The Eagle Has Landed and signed photographs from other stars, including Sir Michael Caine and Kate Bush.
The auction will be held at Richard Winterton Auctioneers in Lichfield on November 3. The Beatles photos are being offered as one of three lots from the archive and are estimated to fetch between £500 and £700.
