Lucknow, 13 April (HS): At an event here on Sunday,
Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel underlined the critical role of young in
building modern India and the need to abolish dowry from society. She urged
children to create inspirational films that may inspire good social change
while speaking as the principal guest at the closing ceremony of the 14th
International Children’s Film Festival 2025, which was organized by City
Montessori in Lucknow. Patel also gave awards for the best films at the
festival, expressing her conviction that it provided vital learning experiences
that will favorably impact their future, according to a statement made
following the event. Drawing on her experience as a former teacher, Patel
stressed the importance of extracurricular activities in developing children’s
capabilities, and she advised parents and teachers to lead children based on
their specific interests and abilities.
In an effort to teach youngsters
about the dangers of dowry, Governor shared her jail visits and highlighted the
misery of the children of women imprisoned in dowry cases. The Governor shared her experience visiting
jails, stating that the majority of the women there were imprisoned for dowry. She said that their young children were also
serving jail sentences with them, despite the fact that they had committed no
crimes, according to the statement. The
Governor stated that before she visits the district, children in grades 10
through 12 and college are given a tour of the jail. When these pupils eventually meet with the
Governor, their attitudes shift positively.
They declare, We will not accept or give dowry, nor will we
support those who do. Interaction with inmates encourages youngsters not to do
things that place them in jail, it stated. Patel also encouraged the
audience to respect their daughters-in-law and eliminate dowry from society. She emphasized the necessity of raising
excellent people who may later help society in a variety of vocations. She also advocated for the integration of
poor children into mainstream school and the abolition of child labor and
