05 May (HS): The 22nd All India Inter Agricultural University Sports
Competition going on at Acharya Narendra Dev Agriculture and Technology
University Kumarganj concluded on Monday. Agriculture, Agricultural Education
and Research Minister Surya Pratap Shahi was present on this occasion. The Vice
Chancellor welcomed the Agriculture Minister by presenting a memento and
angavastram. On the request of Vice Chancellor Dr. Bijendra Singh, Agriculture,
Agricultural Education and Research Minister Surya Pratap Shahi has ordered to
waive the fee of athlete Aanchal Thakur, winner of three gold medals. He said
that this will awaken the spirit of sports among the players and at the same
time sports will be encouraged and the players will move forward towards new
heights. On the occasion of the closing ceremony, Agriculture Minister Surya
Pratap Shahi said that the government of the Center and the state is fully
committed to the development of players. He said that the number of medals
sercured by Indians in the Olympics and Asian Games has increased rapidly.
University players will have to be prepared for the Olympics and Asian Games.
India won six medals in the 2024 Olympics but it needs to be increased further.
Minister Shahi said that the Yogi government of the state gave a sum of Rs 5
crore to the players who won medals in the Olympics and Rs 50 lakh to the
coach. Earlier it was said that if you play and jump, you will be ruined, but
that time is over now. In today’s time, playing will make you famous in the
world. The minister praised the Vice Chancellor and the university family for
organizing the national level sports competition in the Agricultural
University. He said that the university has developed rapidly in the last eight
years. This is the first agricultural university in the country which has
achieved A++ rank in NAAC.

Chancellor Dr. Bijendra Singh said that teams from 56 agricultural universities
from 24 states participated in the Agricultural University. 2000 players
participated in the competition. The game was organized under the guidance of
the state Governor Anandiben Patel and the Agriculture Minister. He said that
the players participating in the sports competition will assess their
capabilities and will try to move further ahead in the future. The Vice
Chancellor said that all the sports facilities are available in the University
for the All-round Development of the students. He said that there are wins and
losses in sports, but players need to play with the spirit of sportsmanship.
This sports competition was organized in coordination with Dean of Student
Welfare Dr. D. Neogi, Sports In-charge Officer Dr. Sanjay Pathak, Judge (Lt.)
Dr. Naveen Kumar Singh, Sports Assistant Teacher Dr. Devnarayan, Sports Teacher
Abhishek Singh. The match referee, committee chairman, members, volunteers etc.
played an important role in conducting the sporting event.
