08 May (HS): A police van carrying a prisoner to Muzaffarnagar collided with a
parked canter on Thursday in the Lodha police station area of Aligarh
district of Uttar Pradesh. Five people, including a sub-inspector and three
constables, died in this accident. One policeman is injured and has been
admitted to the hospital.
Superintendent
of Police Nagar Mrigank Shekhar Pathak said that accused gangster prisoner
Gulshanwar from Firozabad district, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, was to appear
in court today. The policemen were taking him to Muzaffarnagar in a government
police van. As soon as the police van reached the Chikavati turn of the bypass
highway from Lodha area, it rammed into a parked canter from behind at around
8.15 am. In the accident, the cabin of the van was completely damaged and the
policemen and the prisoner were injured. On receiving this information, the
police station reached the spot and carried out relief and rescue operations.
All the injured in the accident in the van were taken to the medical college.

City said that doctors in the hospital declared Deputy Superintendent of Police
Ramsajivan, constable Balveer, Raghuveer, driver constable Chandrapal and
prisoner Gulshanwar dead. Constable Sherpal Singh, who was seriously injured in
the accident, has been admitted to the medical college.
